Gravel pumps are usually designed as horizontal centrifugal pumps with a single pump casing structure. They have special clamps to clamp the pump body and pump cover, so that the pump outlet can be in any position of 360 degrees, making it very convenient to install and use. The bearing assembly adopts a cylindrical structure, which is convenient for adjusting the gap between the impeller and the pump body, and can be removed as a whole for maintenance. The bearings are lubricated with grease, and the shaft seals include packing seals, impeller seals, mechanical seals, etc.
Application fields
Gravel pumps are widely used in mining, coal, metallurgy, chemical industry, environmental protection and other industries, especially in dredging, gravel suction, river dredging, mining and metal smelting slag transportation. For example, GH type gravel pump is a high-lift pump suitable for continuous transportation of highly abrasive materials whose particles are too large to be transported by ordinary slurry pumps.

1. High wear resistance:
The flow parts (impeller, pump casing, guard plate) are made of wear-resistant materials such as high-chromium alloy cast iron, rubber or polyurethane to resist high-speed erosion of gravel.
The impeller is usually designed with a wide flow channel and a low number of blades (3-5 blades) to reduce blockage and allow large particles to pass (particle size can reach more than 50% of the pump diameter).
2. Large particle passing capacity:
It can transport slurries containing solid particles with a diameter of >50mm, and some heavy-duty pumps can handle stones over 150mm.
3. High head and flow stability:
It is necessary to maintain high efficiency in solid-liquid two-phase flow and reduce performance fluctuations caused by particle sedimentation.

Performance parameters
The key performance parameters of gravel pump include flow rate, head, speed and power. Flow rate refers to the volume of medium delivered by the pump per unit time, usually in cubic meters per hour or liters per second; head refers to the total height difference that the medium delivered by the pump needs to overcome from the inlet to the outlet, in meters; speed refers to the number of revolutions per minute of the pump shaft, usually in revolutions per minute; power refers to the power consumed by the pump during operation, usually in kilowatts. The selection of these parameters needs to be determined according to the actual delivery needs and system requirements.
Key points for operation and maintenance
• Before starting:
Make sure the pump is full of liquid (avoid dry running) and check the cooling water of the shaft seal.
• Operation monitoring:
Pay attention to the bearing temperature (≤75℃), vibration value (≤4.5mm/s), and outlet pressure fluctuation.
• Pump stop operation:
First close the inlet valve and flush the pipeline for 5 minutes to prevent sedimentation.
• Regular maintenance:
Check the impeller wear clearance every 500 hours (replace if it exceeds the standard>1mm)
Replace the bearing grease every 2000 hours (lithium-based grease is recommended)
