1. Reliable operation: This requires pipeline pumps to have simple structure, strong and durable characteristics. It is also possible to reduce the number of stages and adopt symmetrical impeller arrangement and double suction impeller arrangement to balance the axial force as needed.

2. Convenient installation and disassembly: Good accessibility and convenient replacement of wearing parts can be ensured by opening the pump casing and arranging the base at the bottom of the pump casing.

3. Wide range of applications and high efficiency: This requirement can be met by selecting multi-stage pumps, symmetrical pumps or single-stage pumps with double-end water inlet impellers for large flows. Pipeline pumps can also be connected simultaneously or sequentially (see parallel operation or series operation). The viscosity of the conveying medium must be taken into account during design.

4. During the installation phase, different internal parts are used to better adapt to changes in output power: the performance of the pipeline pump is adjusted by changing the impeller width or impeller diameter.

The pump casing of the multi-stage pump is arranged with an annular flow channel to ensure uniform flow and system stability, and the replaceable bearing can protect the entire contact without wear.

Mechanical seals are almost always used as shaft seals. A stuffing box can be installed in the pipeline pump to seal the gap between the pump housing and the pump shaft. The bearings that support the pump shaft can be either rolling bearings or sliding bearings. In order to withstand axial thrust, thrust bearings can also be used.

By using an elastic coupling with a spacer block, the mechanical seal on the drive side can be replaced or the bearings can be replaced without disassembling the pump rotor. This can avoid displacement of the pump unit during operation or spacing between the drive and the base.

In fact, pipeline booster pumps are also installed. Usually, pipeline pumps are not required to have very low NPSH values.

In most cases, the fully automatic operation of pipeline pumps is controlled from the main console.
